So you just moved to Los Angeles to act, now what? It can be scary…the great unknown…
Let that fear motivate you, kick your ass into gear, and move forward.
Act I
Start watching movies, tv-shows, web-series, short films…watch everything. Learn your craft by seeing what has come before. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, buy a subscription to at least one of them and learn from this vast library, of what works, what doesn’t, what makes you feel something, and what makes you bored.
This is incredibly important because you have to learn your history and educate yourself on your craft. Know, every inch of it, from directing, to writing, to editing… The more you know, the better off you will be.
Now, I’m not saying to imitate the other actors or actresses, you will never be them, and you shouldn’t be. You need to be you and find your own voice and style. It just helps to see models (template) and know that every actor, nay, every artist started in the exact same spot as you and even the biggest stars sometimes fall and make a disaster of a movie, yet they keep moving forward refining themselves.
